Micro Economics and Business Economics - Samples for Students

Question: Examine about the Micro and Business Economics. Answer: Presentation In the announced investigation paper, an essential framework examination of a monetary issue for example the designation of exertion between delivering low-esteem dairy animals milk and high-esteem cow milk in New Zealand has been assessed. So as to finish the whole examination, causal circle model has been used to decide the significant components connected to the framework. In addition, attracting the components identified with the examination, the linkages between the distinguished components have been meant in the investigation also. Obviously, the adjusting and strengthening circles have been shown in an outline portrayal. Through the examination of the investigation, a development prime example has been distinguished. To complete the report, the intercession of the executives to improve the framework work has been depicted too. Issue Statement The main monetary issue characterized in the investigation is identified with the distribution of exertion between creating low-esteem bovine milk and high-esteem cow milk in New Zealand. So as to comprehend the financial issue, a methodical examination has been built drawing a causal circle model dependent on the components related with the issue (Clarke, Leuridan, Williamson, 2013). Decisively, the endeavors prompting the creation of high-worth and low-esteem cow milk have included components, for example, work, efficiency per work, creation of low-esteem bovine milk, and creation of high-esteem cow milk, innovation, capital gracefully, and gainfulness of firms (Galindo Marti?n, Nardi Spiller, 2010). Causal circle model and depiction of connections All together build up the easygoing circle model; most importantly, the distinguished components have been attracted to comprehend the influencing components appended to the framework investigation. Fundamentally, by depicting the linkages between the individual components, it will be imperative to mean the positive and negative linkages. In the segment beneath, the whole causal circle model has been drawn as follows: Figure: Causal Loop Model Above all else, the works required for both the high-worth and low-esteem cow milk creation can be characterized as one of the main endeavors in the financial issue. Subsequently, the linkage among works and high-worth and low-esteem cow milk creation will be certain as indicated in the causal circle model. Then again, the connection between creation of high-worth and low-esteem bovine milk will be sure with the gainfulness of the firm. In particular, efficiency per laborers is a component that makes a positive effect on the creation of the two kinds of milk. On a considerable note, during the creation of both high-worth and low-esteem dairy animals milk, the work cost has made a negative linkage with the benefit of the firm (Chaudhary, Upadhyaya, 2015). Accurately, innovation has been an instrumental factor in the portion of endeavors to relieve the recognized monetary issue. Innovation will impact the efficiency of work in a positive manner just as the creation of high-esteem milk from low-esteem milk. Likewise, a critical capital flexibly should be included introducing the innovation. Conversely, capital flexibly is one of the considerable components adding to the creation and dealing with the expense of work (Wiseman, 2015). Thus, critical capital flexibly can make a positive linkage towards work the executives. As a matter of fact, during the creation of low-esteem milk in New Zealand, the work cost must be limited with the goal that complete productivity can be drawn by the advertisers. Then again, creation of high-esteem milk requires aptitude HR, innovative assets, and other central assets. Consequently, capital gracefully should be improved on account of creation of high-esteem milk (Chaudhary, Upadhyaya, 2015). In the given causal circle model, the blue positive circles arrange the strengthening circles while the red negative circles characterize the adjusting circles (Umbach, 2009). In the mean time, every one of the components joined to the area should be confirmed as needs be to control the assignment of exertion during the creation of high-worth and low-esteem dairy animals milk in New Zealand advertise. In term of adjusting and strengthening the components, blue positive circles have signified fortifying circles while red negative circles decide adjusting circles. According to the causal circle demonstrating, work units and creation of low worth bovine milk has been fortified so gainfulness will increment. Likewise, capital flexibly has been fortified with efficiency per specialist to expand the creation of high worth dairy animals milk. Clearly, capital gracefully and innovation have been occupied with another fortified circle to build creation. If there should arise an occurrence of adjusting the components, work units have been offset with benefit to designate the store required for business supportability. Likewise, work units and efficiency per specialist has been occupied with a fair circle to help every one of the components driving towards profitability. Distinguishing proof of cutoff points to development prime examples There are a few cutoff points to development looked by the milk creation industry of New Zealand as far as the components of prime example. The cutoff points to the development paradigms are introduced in this beneath: Cutoff points to development for low worth dairy animals milk: work, creation, swarming, profitability By considering the figure introduced in the causal circle model, it very well may be seen that the work units suggested in the creation of low worth dairy animals milk are excessively high. Then again, with high number of works the creation in the low worth dairy animals milk industry increments. Also, the low worth bovine milk creation framework faces high packing that bring about low per capita creation (Rae, 2017). As such, as far as possible to the development prime example of low worth bovine milk is low profitability. Consequently, there is an absence of ideal utilization of assets. Cutoff points to development for high worth dairy animals milk: capital, innovation, efficiency, costs, benefit Then, the cutoff points to development originals looked by the high worth cow milk creation framework are the elevated level of cost and low benefit. The administration inputs high capital in the creation of high worth milk to improve the innovation. Then again, the innovation brings about the upgrade of per work profitability bringing about an expansion in the expenses (Norton, Berckmans, 2017). Consequently, a fall in the benefit can be obvious for this situation. The administration needs to accomplish the business targets of higher productivity because of significant expense of creation. Intercession of the executives to improve the framework work The mediation of the administration to improve the framework capacities are introduced thus beneath: The administration must investigate alternatives to improve the hour of working by presenting shift work. The working in move will diminish packing in the low worth milk creation without lessening the work input (Galindo Marti?n, Nardi Spiller, 2010). The work contribution to high esteem milk creation must be decreased by breaking down the chain of creation and distinguishing the purposes of wastefulness. Aggregate bartering can be useful in decreasing work cost. Receive capital alternatives that rush to place underway framework and less expensive to secure in the high worth milk creation (Dietz, 2017). The administration must consider the objectives to build gainfulness and profitability by making ideal utilization of assets accessible to the milk creation industry. End By considering the above examination of the monetary arrangement of portion of endeavors in the low worth dairy animals milk and high worth cow milk, each factor of creation are associated with one another prompting high efficiency and benefit. The impediments in the development paradigms impact the ideal use of assets. Decisively, the administration must distinguish the purposes of mediations so as to accomplish the business objectives of expanding benefit and profitability. References Chaudhary, B., Upadhyaya, M. Methods For Proximal Caries Detection Health And Social Care Essay

Dental cavities analytic strategies generally utilize visual audit, haptic investigation, approximal skiagraphy, and fiber visual transillumination ( FOTI ) 14. Despite the fact that bitewing skiagraphy for diagnosing of holes in single patients is an established clinical method, the benefit of bitewing skiagraphy for the detecting of pits in large populace bunches is still controversial23.In essential getting teeth, use of bitewing skiagraphy builds the detecting pace of proximal surface pits substantially21. Surveies in the enduring getting teeth propose that the improvement in pits detecting was all around in the request for around 3-5 percent, and that bitewing skiagraphy likely has most prominent incentive in those populaces with the most elevated pits rates6,9,15,22,29.The quick progresss in processing machine designing have importantly affected dental skiagraphy. In 1987 the main direct computerized framework turned out to be financially accessible as an alternative to traditi onal skiagraphy. Similarly far as analytic truth is concerned, advanced and customary skiagraphy give tantamount ramifications for watching caries24, 27, 28. The blend of early detecting with new interventional methodological examination and depressions heading will be the best dental example in the great beyond. Past surveies have demonstrated depressions are extremely difficult to name at early stages. Right off the bat carious sores discovery through a customary diagnosing strategy, including radiographic, visual and haptic tests, is flawed in light of the fact that they can plug up with a risk of a bogus positive or bogus negative diagnosis18. Till day of the month, heft of surveies which explore proximal depressions have been for the most part in vitro1,5,7,12,17,20,25. Along these lines, few surveies have been done to quantify and analyze proximal cavities clinically21. Thus, there is an interest to gauge proximal cavities by contrasting arranged analytic techniques. Another strategy dependent on fluorescence measurings performed by an optical maser gadget has been turning in prominence known as DIAGNOdent pen †KaVo, Biberach, Germany. At the point when the optical maser illuminates the tooth, the obvious radiation is consumed by natural and inorganic substances present in the dental tissues, each piece great as by metabolites from unwritten bacteriums. These metabolites could be porphyrins that are created by a few kinds of unwritten bacteriums. Surveies using chromatography have discovered that porphyrins gave some fluorescence after energy by bronzed obvious radiation. For this ground, the dental tissue produces fluorescent noticeable radiation after light by rosy optical maser and, as the carious tissue expands the discharged fluorescent obvious radiation contrasted with solid tissue, this causes a significant distinction among carious and sound structures2. All the more late, a few new guidelines frameworks have been proposed and assessed, both to normalized phrasing and methodological examination for clinical tests and to benefit practicians in holding an all the more good grained assault to estimating simple injuries. The â€Å" International Caries Detection and Assessment System † ( ICDAS ) orders six stages in the carious technique, runing from the clinically seeable changes in veneer brought about by demineralisation, through to augmentation cavitation10, 11. Along these lines, with the above portrayal, by and by, proximal holes detecting techniques contain grouped strategy viz. , visual-material investigation with ICDAS II, FOTI with ICDAS II, Bitewing skiagraphy ( Conventional and A ; Digital ) and Laser Fluorescence Caries detecting †DIAGNOdent pen. Thusly, the purpose of this review is to clinically look at and measure arranged indicative strategies in essential and enduring processors for proximal holes sensing.Reappraisal of literatureDavies GM et Al in 2001 concentrated in-vivo the use of fiber-optic transillumination ( FOTI ) as a symptomatic device all in all dental example and reasoned that the FOTI method expanded the detecting of approximal carious sores. It was accounted for to be an utile demonstrative device when all is said in done dental practice4. Heinrich-Weltzien R et Al in 2002 concentrated in-vivo shorts for occlusal pits detecting by the optical maser fluorescence gadget DIAGNOdent ( DD ) in contrasting with visual-positioned survey ( VI ) and bitewing radiogram ( BW ) under status of a general alveolar consonant example and reasoned that it is encouraged to gauge occlusal surfaces by an exacting VI followed by the use of DD as well as BW as extra demonstrative device of second pick. A DD estimation of and gt ; 20 could be affirmed as a touchy cut-off for detecting of occlusal dentine cavities in first and second enduring processors. For the detecting of early characteristics of finish holes the DD is by all accounts less suitable8. Costa AM et Al in 2008 concentrated in-vivo the utilization of an optical maser fluorescence gadget for detecting of occlusal cavities in enduring dentitions and presumed that in spite of the fact that the optical maser gadget had a worthy open introduction, this hardware ought to be utilized as an embellishment strategy to visual survey to maintain a strategic distance from bogus positive results3. Walsh et Al in 2008 concentrated in-vivo correlativities between Diagnodent optical maser fluorescence readings and clinical tonss for smooth ( buccal and etymological ) surfaces of essential eyetooths and processors using ICDAS II, with impossible to miss inclusion in white topographic point sores and inferred that there is a designed development in optical maser fluorescence tonss with expanding disagreeableness of smooth surface veneer sores in essential dentitions, from sound smooth surface finish through white topographic point sores and later to cavitation ; all things considered, the Diagnodent ought to non be depended on as the sole methods for depressions diagnosing in light of the chance of bogus positive readings if plaque stays on a superficial level. The joint discoveries of expanded tonss with early decalcified sores affecting polish, and changes in readings alining with pits inversion or designed development loan some help to the clinical use of Diagnodent as a help wi th managing the headway of early periods of the depressions methodology on smooth surfaces 26. Kavvadia K et Al in 2008 concentrated in-vivo the DIAGNOdent readings ( LF ) with those of direct visual ( DV ) investigation, roundabout visual ( IDV ) examination, bitewing skiagraphy ( BWR ) , and pit and fissure hole ( PFO ) for the detecting of occlusal depressions in essential dentitions ; to discover the cogency of this gadget using PFO as notice ; and to quantify its steadfastness and inferred that the LF gadget introduced high reliability in the detecting of occlusal holes in essential dentitions and its open introduction was like DV and radiographic examinations13. Newman B et Al in 2009 concentrated in-vivo the expanded advantages of using bitewing skiagraphy in add-on to the visual-material investigation procedure for detecting of essential getting teeth depressions in a non-fluoridated network, and decided the pervasiveness of â€Å" hid † occlusal pits in the essential getting teeth and inferred that In the essential getting teeth, use of bitewing skiagraphy builds the detecting pace of proximal surface pits well. It is suggested that bitewing skiagraphy be incorporated as part of the regular examination of children with proximal surfaces that can non be visualized21.PurposeThe motivation behind this in-vivo overview is to analyze and quantify arranged analytic techniques for proximal pits detecting in essential and enduring grinders.AimTo contrast visual-haptic investigation and ICDAS II ( VT ) , FOTI with ICDAS II ( TI ) , Conventional Bitewing skiagraphy ( C-BWR ) and A ; Digital Bitewing skiagraphy ( D-BWR ) and Laser Fluorescenc e Caries detecting ( DIAGNOdent pen-LF ) for proximal depressions in essential and enduring processors. Pakist Child Health And Mortality - 1658 Words

Aisha Hanif PM 565 04/28/15 Global Health Country Report Pakistan: Child Health and Mortality Introduction Since it’s separation from India in 1947, Pakistan steadily grew to a country with a population of about 184.35 million people in 2013, making it the sixth most populous country in the world (â€Å"About Pakistan†). Pakistan is broken into four provinces: Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (â€Å"About Pakistan†). Its capital is the city of Islamabad. While Pakistan has taken many steps to improve the state of its people in recent years, the prevalence of poverty, gender inequality, inequities, political instability and a struggling economy have proved very challenging for the country (â€Å"About Pakistan†). These factors also†¦show more content†¦Balochistan is the worst performing province in terms of MDGs while Punjab seems to be performing the best (â€Å"Millennium Development Goals†). While there have been improvements in certain indicators and a few have been achieved in some provinces, no province in Pakistan will be able to achieve a MDG in its entirety (â€Å"Millennium Development Goals†). Major Determinants of Health There are many different determinants of health in a country. Social determinants of health are conditions in which people are born, grow, live and work (Addressing Social Determinants of Health in Pakistan†). These determinants are contributors to health inequities and burden of disease in countries across the globe, including Pakistan (Addressing Social Determinants of Health in Pakistan†). Some of the most prominent factors in Pakistan include gender inequality, uneven distribution of income, political instability and political reinforcement of inequality and are all determinants that need to be addressed in order to improve health outcomes (Addressing Social Determinants of Health in Pakistan†). Tables 1 through 4 in the Appendix highlight some major social indicators of health in Pakistan as well as summarize some of Pakistan’s largest health problems. The tables also include data on maternal mortality and fertility in Pakistan as well as the economic burden and

Hope-Focused Marriage Counseling - 1337 Words

Hope-Focused Marriage Counseling In Partial Fulfillment Of the Requirements for the Course Pre-Marital Counseling (PACO 610) February 18, 2010 Summary Worthington has an approach that is dependent largely on the empathizing of the counselor rather than the willingness of the involved (xiii). The essentials of this approach are the couples’ willingness to be expressive in their affection only while continually being reserved in reactions to provocations. Apparently, there is a chemical reaction which cascades more negativity (xxv), and the positivity to negativity ratio needs lots of boosting (47). The importance of the marriage relationship is that it is the only picture of Christ and His people that exists on earth. If†¦show more content†¦One can see their common values as assets that each partner holds. That is, they are not starting with empty hands (129). Positive change is brought about chiefly through direct request or verbal expectation (160). So much of dialogue is idiomatic, hyperbole, sarcastic, critical, or manipulative. â€Å"Say what you want† needs to be a constant piece of communication coaching from any counselor. Positive feedback is very important. This is not saying that you agree with what is being said, but rather that you understand what is being said and that the speaker knows that you understand (182). If a couple is busy making deposits in the positivity bank of their spouse, an occasional blunderous withdrawal will not feel as devastating (220). Waitpower is essentially remembering that while you’re fixing these problems, they didn’t peak overnight, and they won’t leave that quickly either (56). Furthermore, if the couple knew they could have an enjoyable marriage within two years, that â€Å"wait† seems like a rather minimal investment in the grand scheme of the life of a marriage (110). The process of healing cannot be hurried. It takes deliberate steps of patience and betterment. There are certain actions that will have predictable results (133). Portfolio Essay free essay sample

The beginning of high school I was a seed in English class. I was not particularly good at English and had doubts on whether I should ask the teacher to move me down to the college prep class. Just like a seed, I was a plain little student sitting in an honors class. Maybe from last year’s English class, I was fully aware my writing was not anything special. That was what I thought because I compared myself to my friends, but for sure, one thing I was positive was that writing was my strength in English rather than vocabulary and reading comprehension. With a portfolio with all my past essays in front of me on my desk, I flipped through it. I noticed that my essays were not well-organized, and I had trouble with structuring my essays. However, at the same time, I saw that I had a variety of transitions, and clear topic sentences. We will write a custom essay sample on Portfolio Essay or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The topic sentences were not creative because it was in a basic format, but I knew she could work on that the upcoming year. Thanks to the portfolio that my teacher handed out at the start of the school year, I was able to realize that my writing can change and believed that if I put time and effort through the year, my writing may become a flower one day and bloom beautifully. I sat down in that classroom, day after day, learning new ways to improve. Eventually, almost a year of 9th grade passed. Now that almost a year has gone by and I compare my current self to myself in the beginning of the school year, I definitely see an improvement. I started the year off well, with many A’s in my timed writing and my annotations. But as the year progressed, my grades were dropping. At first, I thought it was because I was putting less effort or my English teacher was grading hard on me. Although my grades did not show improvement, I feel my grades are unimportant. What really matters to me is that I grew and improved mentally through the year despite what my low grades. Of course, if I improved then my grades would rise, but compared to the beginning of the school year, I feel that I am able to write more fluently. Response to literature essays seem more familiar to me, and I do not struggle with concrete details anymore. Due to the timed constant timed writings I had to take, I can brainstorm essays faster and finish essays within the given time limit. Paying attention to details was a major problem for me in the beginning of the school year, but now I know that I should read the text more than once and constantly write notes in the book with post-its so that I do not forget what happened. In addition, just like I wanted to improve on my topic sentences, I was able to learn to make a variety of topic sentences instead of the basic topic sentence formats. Discussions, homework, lectures, and tests, were not the most interesting things, but through these, I was able to change. Throughout the year, I was given many on-demand writings reflecting upon each book that I read in class. I always had trouble with brainstorming because I took too much time on it. I was not able to organize my paragraphs well with pressure of time. The results of this were shown through my basic formatted paragraphs because I could not think of varieties of sentences. However, as time passed, my brainstorming time got faster and I was able to have enough time to edit my essay afterwards. As I looked through my portfolio toward the end of the year, I saw all the on-demand writings I took over the course of the year. My favorite one turned out to be the Fahrenheit 451 in class essay. The essay was well written according to the comments from the teacher. It had an interesting opening sentence, organized thesis, and clear topic sentences. I am proud that I showed changes in my TS especially since I wrote the Fahrenheit 451 ICE toward the beginning of the school year. I would probably say that this essay is far the best on-demand writing I have ever written. In addition, I wrote a couple other ICEs on Oedipus Rex and Romeo and Juliet. From these two essays, I learned that I need to work on my commentaries and my introduction paragraph. I look forward to seeing new growth in myself next year. Process essays were my worst essays. It took up lots of time to brainstorm and research, especially since they are worth a lot of points and important. However, I found that the fact that we had only a limited amount of sentences for commentary was invaluable. I should have the freedom to write as much as I want in the commentary especially since that part is one the most important parts to each body paragraph. A couple essays I wrote were a persuasive essay and a career report. Typically, people would favor the essay that received a higher grade, but I prefer my persuasive essay. It had an attractive hook, but needed work on unity and depth. Persuasive essays are my worst type of essay especially because I have to do research and I am terrible at looking up concrete details for these essays. I usually tend to blow off my commentaries because I do not have enough detail. But while flipping through my last year’s essay, I found a persuasive essay, and it brought a smile to my face. There was a huge improvement with the flow of the essay. My other essay, the career report, was definitely better than my persuasive because it had a good introduction and integrations, but the improvement touched me more than just a grade. I never knew an essay with the worst grade I ever received could make me smile. At the moment, I am a seed with a small, barely noticeable sprout. I feel that I am still not a great writer, but I learned many valuable lessons this school year. Through those lessons and small improvements I noticed, I hope my writing will grow and bloom like flowers in the spring. Next year, I wish to create stronger commentaries, introductions, and conclusion paragraphs. My weaknesses will become my strengths to improve throughout my high school years.

Red Flag Laws Definition

Red Flag Laws Definition Red flag laws are gun violence prevention laws that allow courts to order the temporary confiscation of firearms from persons deemed to pose a risk to others or themselves. Key Takeaways: Red Flag Laws Red flag laws are state gun violence prevention laws which allow police to confiscate firearms from persons deemed by a court to pose a risk to others or themselves. As of August 2019, 17 states and the District of Columbia had enacted red flag laws. After deadly mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, President Trump and a bipartisan group of Congress members have indicated their support for red flag laws. Along with gun control proposals, such as universal gun-buyer background checks, raised in the aftermath of shootings like those in Sandy Hook, Parkland, El Paso, and Dayton, demands to enact â€Å"red flag† laws have become common. As of August 2019, 17 states and the District of Columbia had enacted red flag laws. Red Flag Law Definition and Mechanics Red flag laws permit police or family members to ask a state court to order the temporary removal of all firearms from persons believed to present a danger to others or themselves. In deciding to issue such orders, known variously as Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs) or Gun Violence Restraining Orders (GVROs), the courts consider the past actions and statements- including those posted on social media outlets- made by the gun owner in question. If the court decides to issue the order, the gun owner must surrender all firearms to the police for a specified period of time. In addition, the person named in the order is banned from buying or selling guns during that period. Refusing to fully comply with a red flag protective order is a criminal offense. Guns seized under the order are returned to the owner after a set period of time unless that period is extended by the court. Examples of evidence required by the courts to justify granting gun confiscation orders include: A recent act or threat of violence (involving a firearm or not)Evidence of serious mental illnessHistory of domestic violenceReckless use of a firearmEvidence of substance abuse or alcoholismSworn testimony by witnesses The specific legal provisions of red flag laws and how they are enforced vary from state to state. Are Red Flag Laws Effective? Connecticut was one of the first states to enact a red flag law in 1999. According to a 2016 study published in the journal of Law and Contemporary Problems, the 762 gun removals under Connecticuts â€Å"risk warrant† law from October 1999 through June 2013 resulted in one suicide prevented for every ten to eleven gun seizures executed. The study concluded that â€Å"enacting and implementing laws like Connecticut’s civil risk warrant statute in other states could significantly mitigate the risk posed by that small proportion of legal gun owners who, at times, may pose a significant danger to themselves or others.† Are Red Flag Laws Constitutional? Many gun-rights advocates say that red flag laws infringe on gun owners’ Second Amendment right to â€Å"keep and bear arms,† as well as their right to due process of law as provided by the U.S. Constitution. Guns, they argue, are personal property, and both the Fifth and 14th Amendments specifically provide that the government- including the courts and police- may not deprive citizens of property without due process of law. The argument is based on the fact that the court hearings held to decide if an individual poses a threat are held ex parte, meaning that the person whose guns might be temporarily confiscated is not present at the hearing. This, critics say, violates the Sixth Amendment’s guarantee of the right of accused persons to a face-to-face confrontation with witnesses against them.   However, hearings on all types of restraining and protective orders are typically held ex parte out of concern for the safety of the complainant and witnesses.   Red Flag Law Debate A Washington Post-ABC News poll conducted in April 2018 found that 85% of registered voters nationwide support laws that would â€Å"allow the police to take guns away from people who have been found by a judge to be a danger to themselves or others.† States with red flag laws have reported similar levels of public support for the legislation. In March 2018, the National Rifle Association (NRA), which had helped defeat red flag legislation in Utah and Maryland, suggested it might be open to such laws under a strict set of conditions, including a court finding by â€Å"clear and convincing evidence that the person in question poses a significant risk of danger. Despite this statement, the NRA went on to help block red flag legislation in Arizona in 2019. In Congress, virtually all Democrats and a few Republicans are receptive to red flag laws. The day after the mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, killed 31 people, President Donald Trump urged states to implement red flag laws to remove guns from â€Å"those judged to pose a grave risk to public safety.† In televised remarks from the White House on August 5, 2019, Trump stated, â€Å"We must make sure that those judged to pose a grave risk to public safety do not have access to firearms and that if they do, those firearms can be taken through rapid due process.† States With Red Flag Laws As of August 2019, red flag laws had been enacted in 17 states and the District of Columbia. Twelve states enacted red flag laws after the shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14, 2018, left 17 dead. The states of California, Connecticut, Indiana, Oregon, and Washington, had enacted red flag laws prior to 2018. The 17 states and District of Columbia (in red) that had enacted red flag gun violence prevention laws as of August 2019. Creative Commons With only slight variations, all current red flag laws allow family members and law enforcement to petition a state judge to issue ERPOs directing the confiscation of all guns from the individual they believe poses a threat to their safety. In all cases, the petitioner must present evidence of why the gun owner poses a threat to others, as well as to himself or herself. If the ERPO is granted, the named individual’s guns are confiscated and held by police for a set minimum period, after which the gun owner must prove to the court that he or she no longer poses a risk in order to get their firearms back. On August 5, 2019- the day after the El Paso and Dayton shootings- conservative Republican Senator Lindsey Graham stated that he would propose bipartisan legislation to encourage more states to adopt red flag laws. What to Do and Not Do to Make More Money When the Work Dries Up

What to Do and Not Do to Make More Money When the Work Dries Up As I close in on 14 years of full-time freelancing, I find that now and then work can suddenly dry up. Whether the high-paying kind of work that I enjoy offers returns depends on how I respond to these lulls. I used to panic and go after any and all work that I could find. This so-called work included the cheapest lowball offers in and outside my niche, accepting any style, genre and subject matter. I was desperate and looked and acted it. I attracted the worst side of this business. I lost much of my confidence in getting high-quality, high-paying work again. After about two or three weeks of this behavior, my plate would fill with bad, low-paying gigs. Then, as luck would have it, a flood of my normal, high-paying work would come in too. Now I had twice the work I could handle, half of which I didnt want. I couldnt turn the good work down, and I couldnt ignore my responsibility to complete the other work I had committed to. I have since learned to spend those two- or three-week periods calmly, patiently and confidently going after the best work I possibly could. I did so with patience, not letting anyone know my situation, not acting or appearing desperate. Now at the end of such periods, there is no crap to deal with when my luck turns around. I now live and work with the confidence that every time such periods come along, if I respond in a confident manner, in lieu of fearful and desperate, everything will return to normal in a few weeks. Let me elaborate on what I do during those typically two- to three- week periods to bring a rush of new work in. First, I approach existing editors, asking them as to how they are doing and taking a genuine interest in them, both personally and professionally. I drop them an email with tips and leads or open up a discussion on topics that interest them. If that doesnt lead to an assignment, I re-read the publication and competing publications, and I look for unanswered questions and other material that may be the impetus for new pitches. Then I write longer, better and more detailed pitches than I typically do for these editors I already know. I think they respect the additional effort and commitment to the project. And the more they can see upfront, the more convincing my argument that I can finish a great story. I do likewise with new-to-me editors, but again only those with the best work and pay rates. I put together well-considered letters of introduction and samples to go with great story pitches. The more excited I am about a story, and the more research I have done to develop it, the easier it is for editors to become interested. Here is the critical theme in all this: The more you need the work, the more serious and committed you have to be. You have to make your biggest investment, your strongest commitment, and demonstrate extensive preparation in your proposals in order to get the work. More than that, show your best creative writing chops in the process. Write things that are genuinely profound in unique ways. Speak about subjects in a manner no one has ever done before. Dont be afraid to cut against the grain a little bit. But dont let them smell your fear. That does nobody any good.

Separation Strategies for Isoprenoids from Aqueous Solutions Term Paper

Separation Strategies for Isoprenoids from Aqueous Solutions - Term Paper Example The simplicity, cost and energy efficiencies as well as the separation capability of solvent extraction, make it the best among these techniques. Introduction Found in all classes of living organisms, isoprenoids are the largest and a diverse group of biomolecules. Also known as terpenoid, isoprenoids are derived from five-carbon isoprene units (2-methyl-1,3-butadiene) assembled and modified in thousands of ways (Encyclop?dia Britannica). In isoprenoids, two to thousands of the isoprene units, through one or neither of its double bonds, are linked into larger molecules to form linear or ring structures. As biomolecules, isoprenoids play a wide variety of roles in plant and animal physiological processes and as intermediates in the biological synthesis of other important biomolecules. The flavors, fragrances of essential oils and other plant-derived substances are due to these molecules. Geraniol, an isoprenoid, is a contributor to the fragrance of rose perfume. These molecules are al so extracted from plants or chemically synthesized to be used as pharmaceuticals (e.g. taxol, bisabolol, lycopene, artemisinin), animal feed supplements and food colorants (various carotenoids) For instance, lycopene is the red pigment in tomatoes while carotene, an isoprenoid and precursor of vitamin A, is responsible for the pigment in carrots. Given the biological importance and applications of these molecules, numerous chemical techniques have been developed for their isolation from their natural sources, which inevitably contains some amount of water. Conventional separation techniques such as distillation, fractional distillation, stream distillation, crystallization, solvent extraction, enfleurage, and chromatography are used. The chemical and physical properties of the compound as well as its abundance and distribution in nature, influenced the choice of technique. For instance, while volatile and plentiful isoprenoids such as turpentine are isolated by distillation of oleor esins, extremely rare compounds such as insect’s hormones are separated from the substrate by chromatography. Currently, fundamental research has been directed towards extraction of these molecules from their natural source by bioaccumulation in microorganism, from which these isoprenoids can be extracted (Clark, Maury and Asadollahi 29). This article seeks to discuss the various conventional and emerging separation techniques used for the separation of isoprenoids from aqueous substrate. This discussion will include overview of the underlying principle involved in the process, design considerations with respect to the technique, fundamental challenges associated with the technique and suggestion of the best technique with respect to performance, safety, cost, and energy efficiency. In addition, specific applications of the best technique will be given. Conventional separation techniques for the isolation of isoprenoids Conventional technologies employed include, simple disti llation, fractional distillation, stream distillation, vacuum distillation, solvent extraction, crystallization, and chromatographic techniques. Simple distillation Distillation involves the conversion of a liquid into vapor and the subsequent condensation of the vapor to back to liquid form. Distillation, as performed in the industry or laboratory is based differences in their volatilities (boiling point) of the mixture. Thus distillation is a physical separation process, and not a chemical reaction.

Forgotten War Crimes :: essays research papers

Forgotten War Crimes "The holocaust was such an unthinkable horror, the Nazi dictatorship so uniquely evil, that the calculated firebombing of more than half a Milan defenseless civilians in the dying days of the war had just fallen by the wayside."1 History is defined as all recorded events of the past, but with textbooks, historical journals, and other respected documentaries all denying, or refusing to acknowledge and give responsibility, the ruthless and criminal bombing of Dresden does not change the fact that it occurred. Thus history is biased by those who write it, and should not be taken as the whole truth; after all, over two hundred thousand innocent civilians lost their lives and do not deserve to be forgotten simply because America does not want to take responsibility actions and admit to what happened. This tragic event is simply swept under that carpet and neglected and termed a strategic bombing with military objectives. This bombing may have been strategic but it certainly did not have any military objectives which are stated throughout much of American history. It was, however, the strategic bombing and slaughtering of a quarter million innocent civilians. American history textbooks and documentaries state that the official objective in the bombing of Dresden was to destroy railway yards, thus delaying or preventing the deployment of German troops to the eastern front. To destroy rail-lines and rail yards, precision bombing is used. Contradicting this statement is the fact that the American planes flying over Dresden were not armed with precision bombs but instead with high explosive incendiaries used to create firestorms. What is also ironic is that after the bombing, not a single rail-line or rail yard had been disturbed. Other historical journals provided via the American government claim that Dresden contained a number of bunkers being used to house German Troops. Although Dresden did contain bunkers, they were being used to house American and British prisoners of war. By using such high explosive incendiaries and such elaborate bombing patterns, Allied bombers were successful in creating one of the most devastating firestorms claiming upwards of two hundred thousand innocent lives and utterly destroying on the most culturally historic centers in the world.

What Would The World Be Like If Guns Were Banned

What would the world be like if guns were banned? Would chaos break out, or would the United States have peace? The Second Amendment grants U.S. Citizens the right to keep and bear arms. While some people believe banning guns will make the world safer, others believe the world will only be in more danger. Prohibition did not work for alcohol and drugs, so why would it work for guns? Guns should not be banned because crime rate would increase, people need guns for self-defense, and it will eliminate some of the citizens’ rights. One of the main topics concerning gun control is crime rate. Crime rate could increase if guns are banned. It is so easy for criminals to get their hands on guns, whether they are illegal or not. Guns are not the problem in the country, it is the person with the weapon. It does not matter how much the government regulates gun control, they cannot regulate the people. Banning guns will not stop crime rate from going up. The U.S. has an estimated amount of 220+ million guns and machine tools, so criminals can easily make their own weapons (â€Å"Will You Be†). The United States will only be in more trouble if guns are banned. Banning guns does not mean criminals will automatically stop what they are doing. Most criminals illegally make and buy their own weapons, anyway. Most of the crimes committed are not with the use of a gun. Many are used with different types of weapons or tools. â€Å"Getting rid of guns does not get rid of violence. She uses the Second Amendment to back up her argument about guns being only for the well-trained militia. The claim of the argument is Guns are a Danger, so it’s safer to get a knife or a dog. Our country was founded around guns. We won the American Revolution with personal owned firearms, and they protected us while we explored the new land.
